National Environmental Education Week (April 13-19, 2008)

A great feature of Project Learning Tree is their creation of storylines (found in the appendix of your PLT guide). As PLT states, “Storylines provide connectedness and continuity to activities, and can serve as the “instructional glue” that holds many areas of knowledge and skills together.”

National Environmental Education (EE) Week is a great time to use a storyline. The following storyline is geared for middle school students, and promotes stewardship behaviors by showings students they can make a difference.

Storyline: People can improve their relationship with the environment through their actions and behavior.

Activities:
Pollution Search – understanding the various forms of pollution
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle – management of solid waste
Every Drop Counts – conserving water
Energy Sleuths – conserving energy
Then and Now – comparing paste and present environmental behavior
